Indians showing Anger on Snapchat !

From the past two days, SnapChat is trending in India like never before but it is not for a good reason, an employee of SnapChat make the comment of its CEO public stating that Snapchat's CEO Evan Spiegel once said in 2015 that he has no interest in expanding the business of SnapChat to "poor countries" like India and Spain. Once this statement became public there were a huge number of protests against the photos sharing app gets started, people started boycotting the application by uninstalling it and start giving a low rating to the application at App Stores. As per the reports, the rating of Snapchat has started falling down due to the low ratings are given by Indian users.

A new report that has come down today is regarding a data leak of millions of users of SnapChat around the world. Anonymous Indian hackers claim to have leaked database of 1.7 million Snapchat users, which they hacked last year. According to Indian hackers, they had found a vulnerability in Snapchat database last year and had stolen details of 1.7 million users. Hackers leaked and made this data based available on the darknet to mark their protest against company's remark for India. However, SnapChat has not yet given a confirmation on any data leak.

This incident also become Viral on the Internet as it becomes the main topic for troll over the social networking sites. Hashtags like #Uninstall-SnapChat,#BoycottSnapchat started trending on twitter and numbers of meme makers started trolling the app by making sarcastic memes against one of the most popular photos sharing app. Those who have never installed the app on their smartphones are simply installing the application giving it a single star and then uninstalling the application to mark their resentment against the application. In India few people even started giving low stars to SnapDeal the e-commerce application due to the presence of the word Snap in it.

Following the controversy and massive outrage online, Snapchat said the employee who made the claim was "fired for poor performance," three weeks ago and has been involved in a lawsuit with the company".

"This is ridiculous. Obviously, Snapchat is for everyone! It's available worldwide to download for free," an international spokesperson of Snap said in a statement. "Those words were written by a disgruntled former employee. We are grateful for our Snapchat community in India and around the world," the statement added.

It will be fun to see how SnapChat will come out of this controversy and whether they will make an apology to the Indian users or not. Until then it is well known that we Indian people will keep on uninstalling SnapChat from our phones and we will be kept on giving low stars to the application as a way of showing our anger towards the SnapChat's CEO comment.
