Unknown Facts About Flipkart !

Flipkart is the biggest e-commerce company in India, we all have used it for shopping online. Sachin and Binny Bansal started Flipkart in 2007 headquartered in Bengaluru Karnataka. As I have always been curious about gathering some interesting and lesser known facts about the various tech companies, this time I have decided to present some awesome facts about the one and only Flipkart.

• Most of the people believe that the founders of Flipkart Sachin and Binny Bansal are related to each other, but this is not true the whole confusion exists just because they share the same surnames.





• Sachin and Binny both are the alumni of IIT Delhi and have worked for Amazon, and they left Amazon.com just to start their own company which is Flipkart itself.


• The first product that was sold on Flipkart was a Book called "Leaving Microsoft to Change the World by John Wood".


• There was a time when Flipkart used to operate out of an office which had a rent of like 8,000/- per month. It had no power backup, no AC, and almost no windows but the Customer service was always kick ass, despite all adversities.


• Legally Flipkart is not an Indian Company Since it is registered in Singapore and most of its investors are foreigners.


• Flipkart allows 6 months of paid maternity leave, along with 4 months of flexible working hours with full pay and a year-long career break with no pay.


• There are about 30,000 employees in Flipkart.


• Flipkart buys out online fashion portal Myntra for somewhere about 300 Million Dollars in 2014. The main motive of acquiring Myntra is to strengthen the company and to compete against the biggest rival that is none other than Amazon. In 2016 Flipkart acquired payment startup PhonePe.


• The new Flipkart office at "Cessa Business park" Bengaluru has 11 floors, all the floors are themed i.e Tech, Books, Fashion, Architecture, Music, Movies, Bollywood, Sports, Games, Advertising.Check out the photos here.


• In September 2015, Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal entered Forbes India Rich List debuting at the 86th position with a net worth of $1.3 billion each. Co-Founder of Flipkart, Sachin Bansal, got Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2012–2013 from Economic Times, leading Indian Economic Daily.
