As I belong to the fraternity of technical people, I am just writing this article to highlight the key points of Union Budget 2017-18 that are related to technology.
- Indian Metro Policy will be updated, The Metro trains that are running in our country will be modified or we can say will be updated by the software as well as the hardware, the main motive behind doing such is to say that we have improved the metro by the technology that has been developed completely in India. This will present job opportunity to the youth of our country in a big way.
- A new skill development program called "Swayam" or "Massive Open Online Course" more than 350 online courses will be introduced to improve the skills of individuals will be telecasted on free D2H channels, that will help them in securing jobs in industries and also will help them in starting their own small companies.
- One month back on 30 December, our Govt. introduced the "BHIM" app that provides an interface for money transaction digitally.After seeing the positive response of public now govt is planning to add some more features in the app that will provide merchants the ability to take payments from consumers and while doing so they will get Cashback and all.Referral bonus system will also be introduced.Aadhar pay System will also be introduced that allow people to make a transaction by using fingerprints only with the details of Adhar Card only.
- There has been news about the seamless connectivity of all Banks, Govt is trying to connect all the banks together to make the digital transaction easier. Govt. is in talk with companies like TCS and INFOSYS that will provide this facility.
- A Computer emergency response team will be formed that will work directly with RBI to make sure that any cost the security of our accounts and online transaction won't be compromised.The main motive of forming this team is to strengthen the cyber security.
- Digital Pension will be introduced for Senior Citizens and they will start getting pension digitally and a smart card will be provided that will contain all the health related information.
- "BharatNet" a govt. initiative to connect village sectors by using Optical Fibre cable to provide them a fast internet connection.It will get started from the mid of 2017 and by 2018 somewhere around 1 lakh 50 thousand villages will get connected.
- Service Charge has been removed while booking rail tickets using IRCTC website.Before we tend to pay 20-25 rs service tax on ticket booking via IRCTC websites, now we won't have to pay so we can say that it will result in less ticket charge from now on.
- Make in India Campaign will get a boost as Govt. is trying to bring giant companies in our country to increase the manufacturing in India.
