Android vs IOS: and the comparison continues.

Google's Android System continues to be the most preferred and the popular mobile operating system among one of its close competitor that is none other than Apple's IOS, affordable price of android based smartphones standouts to be the biggest reason for its popularity and being accepted by larger user base in comparison to IOS. In this article of mine, I am making a comparison between the two OSs, I am simply making this comparison based on the points that I believe differentiate an iPhone from an android phone and vice versa.First I will talk about Android than will get into the IOS zone.

Here are some key factors that make Android stand apart from IOS:
  • Price Factor: When it comes to a smartphone there are lot more choices for users in Android based on the price range in comparison to IOS. A good android phone capable of performing most of the task of users without getting hanged or freeze down can easily come in the price range of 12 to 15 k, on the other hand the most affordable Apple's smartphone is iPhone 5s, which is a three-year-old device running on an old processor and battery support is also average  offers 16GB internal memory and come at a price of 17,999 INR. Unlike iPhone a users does not have to spend 40,000 Rs more to get a far superior phone. The Android phone starts from a mere price of 3,000 INR and it goes to 50k to 60k it completely depends upon the budget of an individual and requirement to buy an android phone.

  • Customization: When it comes to customization there is no one beating Android, In android based smartphones a user can do all kinds of customization from changing wallpapers to installing launchers to adding Widgets, to change lock screen, ROM can also be changed and in iPhone user can only change his/her phone wallpaper and can move the icons of apps here and there and just can create a folder apart from these, more cool customization is not supported by iOS based phones.

  • Sharing: When it comes to sharing contents either within the phones or outside the phone is much easier in android phones when compared to an IOS phone, we can use NFC, WiFi Direct to share files with other and we can easily connect our phone to our PC and laptop and can perform sharing between our system and phone, On the Other hand in iPhone, we can not directly perform sharing between our system and phone, for this we need to install a software called iTune and by help of it, we can share data. Bluetooth is also not there in the iPhone which is there on an Android phone.NFC support is there in new iPhones but it only restricted to ApplePay.

  • Full OTG Support: We can connect any compatible device with our android phone using the OTG cable we can connect a keyboard, a mouse, or a game controller etc. In IOS phone a little bit of OTG support is there but it does not provide a complete support and we can only connect few devices only and few companies are there like SanDisk that creates pen drives that can be connected to an iPhone but they are very costly when compared to a normal Android phone.
Points that make iPhone different from a normal Android phone:
  • Optimization: Apple itself design its hardware and it knows completely how to use its each n every hardware component and the software has been developed by apple only so it is much easier for apple to maximize the usage of hardware along with the software with the limited use of battery and other resources, as there are very limited model that are there in market so it is much easier for Apple when compared to Google's android to optimize the available resources.

  • Software Updates: As they are limited models available, the software updates come very fast, the day when an update come for a phone in the same time the update will be available for other phones as well, and it does not really matter if your iPhone is 3 or 4 years old, you can have  the latest update on it. This is not the case with android phones, except some phones, the update never comes and as a user, we just keep on waiting n waiting for the update to come.

  • App Quality and App Availability: Apps that are available in iPhones are much better when compared to a normal android phone, both the stores are containing lots n lots of apps but when it comes to app quality iPhone is a little bit above than android here. There are also some apps which are first made for iPhone and after some time, it gets available for android like Instagram etc.

  • Accessories: For an iPhone, there are large numbers of accessories available in the market and if you are using not so popular android phone, you won't even get the back cover for it. Thus in this area, iPhone takes a huge lead over an Android phone.

  • After Sales Service: In this point, an iPhone is much much better than an android phone, if we ever get any type of problem in our apple phone or any other apple product, we simply have to visit the apple store and they will make sure to sort the problem soon if it can be sorted and if it can't then they simply replace the product. Resale value of an iPhone is also way better than an android phone.
At last, I just want to add, that it is completely user's choice whether to get an android phone or an iPhone, it totally depends upon the various factors that are there in the user's perspective and it is completely their call to go for their choice of product.
