Instagram will soon start working without the Internet !

Instagram is one of the most popular photo sharing websites that we currently use and we all know that it is owned and managed by Facebook itself, now there is a news coming about Instagram that there is a possibility in near future that we will be using Instagram without the Internet Connectivity as well. Facebook is currently working on a way for Instagram to work offline on Android.

At a session at Facebook's F8 developer conference on Tuesday, titled "Building Offline Experiences for Instagram," a software engineer described the new offline mode for Android.

It is estimated that 80 percent of Instagram's users are outside of the U.S. — many users are from those areas where the speed of the Internet is much slower when compared to the Internet speed in the US.

"For people in low-bandwidth regions, we’ve begun testing offline experiences that keep the Instagram experience consistent and let people consume and engage with content, even if they don’t have service," the company said in the session's description.

The company has not yet announced the feature, but at least parts of it are already deployed in various regions. There are users who are able to use the "like" feature of Instagram in offline mode in the US and the likes will be updated once the Internet Connection is established.

At present all the activities that we perform on the Instagram is completely network dependent and we can not do much without the Internet connectivity on Instagram, so if Instagram goes into the offline mode number of features will be included that can be performed without the proper Internet connectivity or even without any Internet Connectivity, Offline mode features include: much more cached feed content, liking and commenting offline, visiting profiles, unfollowing and includes support for the explore, activity and profile tabs.

The feature is currently being tested on the Android platform, with iOS likely to be next. The Offline mode could be a big boost for time spent in the Instagram app especially for the users in emerging markets with not so fast internet access.
